AMBROSIA SOLAR
Bringing Cost-Effective Solar Energy, with
a Minimal Land Footprint, to Brunswick County
WHY BRUNSWICK COUNTY?
Project sites are carefully chosen, located near existing energy infrastructure where they can best benefit the electric grid. We take into consideration the area’s solar resources and potential environmental impacts, knowing we must find landowners who choose to lease their land for the life of the project.

Environmental
Evaluation
Aquatic resources and habitats for protected species are studied, documented and carefully avoided.

On-Site
Substation
The project’s on-site substation offers a unique advantage as it eliminates the need for transmission right-of way construction and reduces the visual impact on the community.

Demand
There needs to be an electric demand and an interest in purchasing solar energy. In Brunswick County, solar is helping to diversify the region’s energy generation mix and is stabilizing and putting downward pressure on rising energy costs.
AMBROSIA SOLAR
Located on private property at the discretion of a local landowner, Ambrosia Solar represents an opportunity to generate significant tax revenue while delivering a sustainable, additional supply of American energy to Brunswick.
Ambrosia Solar will have the capacity to produce up to 65 megawatts of American energy, which is enough to power more than 12,000 homes, all while minimizing view disturbances and giving the land time to rest to be more productive for future ag or timber.

Thoughtfully Sited
Well-buffered and away from homes and businesses.
Preserving Brunswick's Rural Character

Preserved Viewshed
Mitigate against view disturbances and minimize impact on the visual character of the community. Utilize setbacks, slopes and mature vegetation to reduce potential visual impacts.

Wildlife
Corridors
Corridors will be developed around and through the property, including utilizing wildlife friendly fencing.

Conservation
Easement
Honoring any existing or new conservation
easements put in place to limit use of certain areas of the property to protect the land.

On-Site
Substation
Reduces visual impacts and eliminates the need for transmission right-of-way construction.

Our Decommissioning Committment
In accordance with County guidelines, we will establish a decommissioning plan to ensure a timely removal of the project to return the property to its existing condition prior to use.
COMMUNITY BENEFITS
Environmental Benefits
Shifting to solar will improve the local environment. The emissions' reduction from our project will remove substantial amounts of CO2 from the air.

Prevents 160,000 tons
of CO2 from entering
local air

Equivalent to 34,797
cars taken off the road
by CO2 reductions

The equivalent of the
yearly carbon footprint
of 9,600 average
Americans
Good Neighbor Committment

Minimal Land
Impact
The land can be returned to active agriculture or timber use with rejuvenated, nutrient rich soil after the life of the project.

Quiet
Neighbors
Solar farms are quiet neighbors. At the fence line, the sound from the onsite invertors is a minor hum – equivalent to the sound of a brook. 150 feet away from the invertors, no noise can be heard.

Pollinator
Habitat
While the facility is in operation, we plant ground cover to attract natural, local pollinators, which helps the surrounding environment and farms.

Emergency
Planning
Coordinate with the county’s emergency services staff to provide materials, education, training and to prepare an emergency response plan to establish protocol in the unlikely case of an emergency.

Property
Values
In an analysis done of the project property, it was concluded that the solar farm will have no impact to the value of adjoining or neighboring properties.

Respect
Neighbors
Appropriate screening, buffers and native vegetation, in addition to tree stands left in place, to provide visual buffers.
Significant Benefits for Brunswick County

Tax
Revenue
$8.9 million in estimated tax revenue over the life of the project to support County services such as infrastructure, public safety and schools.

Economic
Output
$15.7 million in economic output during construction.

Job
Creation
150-200 local jobs during peak construction and a handful of local long-term jobs in Brunswick County.
ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITES
Local Businesses, Workers and Residents
From construction and electrical work to local goods and services, the construction of Ambrosia Solar offers the community direct economic opportunities.

Major and Minor Contractors
Several types of work and services are required to build utility- scale solar projects, such as contractors for engineering, grading, water services, equipment rental and more.

Skilled
Labor
Required for a range of specialized tasks, skilled labor positions such as project managers, site safety personnel and on-site managers will be filled during construction.

Local Goods and Services
Hundreds of workers will be employed during construction, many of whom will utilize local resources such as gas stations and grocery stores, restaurants, retailers and lodging.

Post Construction Operation and Maintenance
Once construction is complete, full-time skilled positions will be available to help support commercial operations at the site.

Other
Labor
Miscellaneous tasks throughout construction will require labor support and offer additional job opportunities.
While TerraForm Power is not responsible for the direct hiring, we will be collecting forms of interest from local and regional businesses and industries that may wish to participate in the construction of
Ambrosia Solar.

WHY SOLAR?
How Solar Works

Cost-Effective
Solar is cost-effective because the cost of the fuel source (the sun) is free. As the price of solar panels has gone down, the cost of solar electricity has significantly decreased. In fact, solar energy is currently the lowest cost way to produce electricity.
Ambrosia Solar will diversify the region’s electrical generation mix, stabilizing and putting downward pressure on electricity prices.

About Us
TerraForm Power is a leading owner-operator of clean energy, with more than 3 gigawatts of solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects operating throughout North America. We bring the financial strength and the technical expertise to develop, build, own, and operate clean energy projects for the long term.
Our development team was established in 2018 and joined TerraForm Power through the acquisition of Sun Tribe Development in 2025.
As professionals who have dedicated ourselves to doing work this generation and the next will be proud of, we are committed to developing energy projects that put community and environmental values first. Amongst other recognition and awards we have received regionally and nationally, our partnership with The Nature Conservancy to bring solar to former mine lands throughout Central Appalachia is one example of our approach to responsible development.
As both a developer and long-term asset owner, we're positioned to meet growing electricity demand with domestic energy, while delivering significant economic benefits to the communities where we operate - from substantial tax revenue for localities to reliable income for landowners and workforce opportunities for residents.
